Description of Axis II: This axis discusses the interactions between health, environment and society, covering the impacts of environmental conditions on the health of populations. It includes topics such as social determinants of health, public health policies, public environmental policies and strategies for sustainable development and the promotion of health equity. The relationship between urbanisation, climate change and emerging diseases is also explored. In addition, it seeks to discuss social participation and intersectoral strategies to minimise health inequalities.
