Integration of knowledge: physiology at the intersection of biomedicine and physical education
Keywords:
physiology, interdisciplinarity, health educationAbstract
This study analyzes how the teaching of physiology serves as a bridge between the fields of Biomedicine and Physical Education. Physiology represents a point of convergence among various health disciplines, being essential both for clinical understanding and for interventions related to body movement. The aim of this work is to examine how physiology teaching can be shared across Biomedicine and Physical Education programs, promoting integrated training between the two fields. A narrative literature review was conducted, selecting texts that explore physiology education and interdisciplinarity in academic settings. The analysis identified three central themes: the relevance of physiology in health sciences, the limitations of isolated disciplinary approaches, and the potential for interdisciplinary practices in higher education. Results indicate that while gaps between fields persist, there are promising experiences that integrate theory and practice through connected methodologies and collaborative projects. It is concluded that integration enhances the understanding of the human body and strengthens the education of professionals prepared to address the complex challenges of health care.
