Evolution of domestic violence in the AMURES region: a data analysis from 2022 to 2024

Abstract

Domestic violence against women is a serious violation of human rights and a public health issue with physical, emotional, and social repercussions. In the AMURES region (Association of Municipalities of the Serrana Region of Santa Catarina), this phenomenon presents particular characteristics that demand attention, especially given the high proportional rates of violence recorded in recent years. This article aims to analyze the evolution of domestic violence cases in the region between 2022 and 2024, based on data extracted from reports issued by the Santa Catarina Court of Justice (TJSC). The research was motivated by the need to understand how this type of violence has been developing in the territory and to identify possible influencing factors. The guiding research question is: how have domestic violence cases behaved in the AMURES region over the past three years? The methodology adopted was a documentary analysis of secondary data with a quantitative focus, considering court cases classified as domestic violence and urgent protective measures. The results show a significant increase in reported cases, especially in 2024, with emphasis on the Lages jurisdiction. The study concludes that there is an urgent need to strengthen integrated public policies to effectively prevent and combat domestic violence in the region.
