Introduction: Family-centered practice during child development enhances the expected results for patients when aligned with clinical physiotherapy treatment, given that the stimuli are not only applied during physiotherapy sessions, but also inserted into the children's daily routine. The interaction between family, patient and physiotherapist creates anenvironment enriched in stimulation, thus allowing goals and objectives to be achieved more accurately. Objective: Toidentify articles in the literature that provide results on the impacts that family-centered practice has on motor development. Methodology: Narrative review of literature found in the Scielo, Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. Results: The studies found demonstrated that the effect of family-centered practice is positive when aligned with physiotherapy treatment, evidencing that family commitment throughout the process is essential for the final result of child development, and can alter the individualized prognosis of each child. Conclusion: Active participation during child development is an empowering strategy that respects the profile and limits of each child, stimulating beyond clinicalpractice, favoring developmental changes and promoting greater autonomy for parents.
