Dosage of controlled release fertilizer in the initial growth of Cedrela fissilis Vellozo

Abstract

The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the effects of different dosages of controlled release fertilizer on the germination and initial growth of Cedrela fissilis seedlings. A commercial substrate was used and controlled release fertilizer (15-09-12) was added to it at doses of 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 g L-1, constituting the treatments of the experiment. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized design, with each treatment consisting of five replicates of nine tubes of 180 cm³. These were arranged in trays, which were kept under the same conditions of temperature and irrigation. After 120 days of sowing, the number of leaves, stem diameter (mm) and height (cm) were evaluated. The collar diameter was measured with the aid of a digital caliper and the height with a 30cm graduated ruler. It is recommended the use of 6 g L-1 of controlled release fertilizer in the production of Cedrela fissilis seedlings due to better results obtained for growth and economic reasons.
